  • Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater - A great pub in stunning surroundings with fantastic home and local brews and excellent food. Book early for meals!
  • The Bitter End, Cockermouth - Another good pub, this time in town (head for the bottom of Kirkgate, near the market place). Microbrewery and good trad. pub food.
  • Buttermere web - Local website with ‘whats on?’ walks, local entertainment etc
  • Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team - The local rescue team that covers the surrounding fells. Look out for open days, slide shows etc!
  • Lake District Walker - Loweswater - Walker orientated site with photos and lots of links to other local areas
  • Cockermouth beer festival - Usually the first weekend in December, a fun and friendly event with a wide and varied selection of Beers to sample, and fantastic entertainment provided throughout the festival. A perfect start to the festive period.
  • Cockermouth Leisure Centre - Cockermouth Leisure Centre and pool is a small but busy facility which offers many varied activities for all age groups and abilities.
  • Cockermouth Golf Club - Cockermouth course is a great test of golf combined with spectacular scenery . After teeing off you will soon appreciate the views that are opening up around you, some of the finest in Cumbria.
  • Cockermouth on Wikipedia - Historically a part of Cumberland, Cockermouth is situated outside the English Lake District on its northwest fringe. Much of the architectural core of the town remains unchanged since the basic medieval layout was filled in the 18th and 19th centuries. The regenerated Market place is now a central historical focus within the town and reflects events during its eight hundred year history.
  • CockRock - Cockermouth Rock Festival is an non profit festival set up to help provide support in the way of funding for two great local causes, The Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance and the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue and to encourage and promote local bands and musicians.
  • The Kirkgate, Cockermouth - The Kirkgate was converted from the former derelict All Saints School through the hard work and help of local people, charities and businesses. It is Cockermouth's main arts venue with an exhibition space and 125 seat theatre/cinema.
  • Theatre by the Lake, Keswick - Theatre by the Lake is one of the most beautifully located theatres you can find in England. A year-round professional producing and presenting theatre which provides a service through the performing arts to communities of, and visitors to, Cumbria.
  • Wordsworth House, Cockermouth - The National Trust has recreated this environment, so that visitors to Wordsworth House get a sense of what the poet’s early years were really like. Visitors may encounter some of the Wordsworth’s servants going about their daily chores – washing, cooking, cleaning. There is even a chance to join in, if you don’t mind hard work!
